KICKSTARTER: Choose Cthulhu II

The second series of Choose Cthulhu, the illustrated ‘choose your own insanity’ gamebooks that adapt classic H.P. Lovecraft stories into interactive adventures, is now waiting to drag YOUR soul into the madness once again. Now seeking funding via Kickstarter, this second series offers another seven volumes in two printed versions and languages.

The seven new adventures for Choose Cthulhu II are:

  • The Colour Out of Space (1927)
    Adapted by Edward T. Riker
  • The Festival (1923)
    Adapted by Jenny D.P.
  • The Whisperer in Darkness (1930)
    Adapted by Giny Valrís
  • The Haunter of the Dark (1935)
    Adapted by Leandro Pinto
  • The Thing on the Doorstep (1933)
    Adapted by Leandro Pinto
  • The Shadow Out of Time (1934)
    Adapted by Giny Valrís
  • The Case of Charles Dexter Ward (1927)
    Adapted by Edward T. Riker

As with the first series, this second collection of seven books can be purchased as either Softcover VINTAGE Editions, replicating the classic style and feel of ’80s gamebooks, or as larger Hardcover DELUXE Editions, featuring a full-page cover image, and an illustrated Bestiary of all characters and creatures from the adventure.

A new and exclusive 2nd generation gamebook consisting of more than 300 playable sections – an Advanced Choose Cthulhu adventure incorporating modern gameplay features such as: character passports, skill tests, combat and equipment – is also included, although only available in Softcover format:

  • Escape from R’lyeh
Written by Edward T. Riker, and illustrated by Eliezer Mayor

Additionally, Choose Cthulhu 0: The Call of Cthulhu HE, a harder, darker and more faithful to the original version of The Call of Cthulhu – written by Leandro Pinto, and illustrated by Adrián Lucas Hernández and Jagoba Lekuona – can be selected as an Add-on to any collection purchase.

This second series campaign also allows collectors, and those new to Choose Cthulhu, to purchase copies of the complete first series – including the new The Call of Cthulhu HE – so you can own the full collection.

The Kickstarter campaign, which concludes on February 29th, has already achieved its funding target and is now unlocking Stretch Goals. Visit the Choose Cthulhu website to learn more about these cosmic horror gamebooks.
