Choice of Games has teamed up with Paradox Interactive and is planning a trilogy of gamebooks based on Paradox‘s Vampire: The Masquerade, set in the World of Darkness story universe.
The three books are Night Road written by Kyle Marquis, Out for Blood by Jim Dattilo and Parliament of Knives written by Jeffrey Dean.
Night Road, the first book, will hit Steam this summer.
The elders have entrusted you, an elite vampire courier, to deliver their secrets. Can you outrun the hunters, the other drivers, and the rising sun?
It’s a new Dark Age for the dead. When the Second Inquisition’s vampire hunters hacked phone lines and computer networks to expose and destroy vampires all over the world, the elders turned to undead couriers like you.
Night Road is, like the other two books in the series, a completely text-based interactive horror story, without graphics or sound effects.
The second story, Out for Blood, has you gathering your allies to hunt the vampires that terrorize your town.
Study their ways and exploit their rivalries, or you’ll become a vampire yourself. Take on the role of a vampire hunter to save your town from the influence of Chastain, a vampire more than a century old.
When a group of young thin-blood vampires start a war with Chastain, will you choose sides, or hunt them all?
Out for Blood is scheduled for release on Steam in spring, 2021.
The third and last game in this new Vampire series is Parliament of Knives, where the undead Prince of Canada’s capital city has disappeared. His second-in-command, Eden Corliss, wants you to find out why.
You’ve been loyal to Corliss since she Embraced you and made you a vampire, but this could be your chance to take her place.
Dominate undead politics through cunning and violence! Will a missing Prince give you the opening you need to seize power and take control of the city?
Will you defend your sire from the accusations flying, or join forces with her rivals to bring her down? One careless word could get you stabbed in the back— staked through the heart, and left to burn in the sun.
This last book in the trilogy will be available on Steam during fall next year.
You can already add these games to your wishlist on Steam and get updates during development.
Vampire: The Masquerade was originally created as a tabletop role-playing game by Mark Rein-Hagen and released by White Wolf Publishing in 1991. It is set in a fictionalised gothic-punk version of the modern world.
The player’s characters are vampires named the “Kindred” and they must deal with conflicts among their own group, in addition to those with vampire hunters.
Several different games, and even an Aaron Spelling TV series, have been created based on Vampire: The Masquerade.
Vampire: The Masquerade is owned by the Swedish company Paradox Interactive AB.
