Spoken Adventures have launched a Kickstarter to fund their interactive audio adaptation of Ulisses Spiele’s solo adventure for the German RPG The Dark Eye.
You hear the muffled sound of footfalls on wet cobblestones, then the sound of heavy boots stepping through puddles. You can’t see farther than ten yards in the thick fog that billows through the dockyards of Havena. You’ve lost track of your pursuers, but you’re sure they haven’t lost track of you. How can you get away? You never respected law and order quite as much as the priests of Praios said you should, and now this is the worst trouble you have ever been in. You cannot trust your eyes, and your ears even less so. Too many sounds echo in the streets – the hiss of an alley cat, the flapping wings of an old raven, and footsteps that seem to approach from every direction…
Utilising voice recognition to select player options, The Vampire of Havena is a professionally narrated audio drama based on the printed adventure first published by Ulisses Spiele in 2016. This app version features some changes to the original text, and is enhanced with an atmospheric soundscape rich in sound effects, music and character voices. A short sample of The Vampire of Havena is currently available to download and play via the Spoken Adventures app (available on Android and iOS) so that you can judge its quality for yourself.
Pledge level rewards on offer include the downloaded app and an original soundtrack, a map set, tabletop miniatures, and the opportunity to record your own sound file for inclusion as background noise within the game.
