Mark Lain’s Venom of Vortan, the third title in the Destiny’s Role gamebook series, has just launched on Kickstarter. It features cover art by Mike Tenebrae (Fantasy Flight, Avalon Games) and illustrations by Gary Ward (Fighting Fantasy).
Venom of Vortan’s Kickstarter campaign offers a special edition hardback print, not available in stores. The book will feature 30 full-page black and white illustrations by Gary Ward, as well as the full color painted cover by Mike Tenebrae.
The Destiny’s Role gamebook series has an intentionally old-school look and feel and is influenced by the classic fantasy gamebook series of the 1980s and 1990s.
Each book in the series can be played stand alone or you can also choose to carry your character over from book to book. Venom of Vortan, finds you seeking revenge on the being responsible for the recent death of your father.
You have searched hard and have finally found the location of the guilty party’s underground lair: the hidden complex wherein hides Vortan, the Snake Lord, creator of the vile race of Vipermen that is plaguing the Desert of Despair and will inevitably reach your home town of Denmoz if he is not destroyed.
The book has 430 section with three different ways to complete the game with lots of explorations, featuring different settings, such as an underground dungeon lair, a desert area and a secret hidden location.
The Kickstarter campaign for Venom of Vortan concludes on June 30:th.
