Starfinder on Amazon Alexa

Paizo has launched a unique voice-based interactive experience of its science-fantasy roleplaying game Starfinder on Amazon’s cloud-based voice service, Alexa. Based on the short solo adventure Scoundrels in the Spike by Amanda Hamon from the Starfinder Beginner Box (shown below), this FREE pilot episode is currently available in English in the United States. It will then expand to Canada, Australia, the UK and India in mid-January 2020.

Experience the future of voice gaming with the premiere episode of Starfinder, a first-of-its kind voice role-playing game that transports you to the futuristic science-fantasy streets of Absalom Station. On the sprawling space station you will encounter a bizarre cast of rogue human misfits and menacing alien creatures, all ready to protect their turf at any cost.

Grab your semi-auto pistol, get your imagination ready, and prepare to stand tall against the treachery that awaits deep inside the station’s underbelly…welcome to the Spike.

Features:

  • A voice-first, single player adaption of the Starfinder multiplayer role-playing game.
  • Get engrossed in a great science-fantasy story where your choices determine the outcome.
  • The ruleset is an adaptation of those found in the Starfinder Beginner Box, and the premiere episode contains 30 minutes of FREE gameplay.

Starfinder on Amazon Alexa is an experience unlike any other, with professional voice actors, immersive sound and music, and screeching space goblins delivering great adventure to Absalom Station’s Spike. This rich soundscape, together with a script written by James L. Sutter (former Starfinder Creative Director), has brought Starfinder’s world vividly to life, creating a truly immersive, awe-inspiring experience.

The rules Alexa uses to run Scoundrels in the Spike are based on the introductory solo adventure of the same name. Starfinder fans will recognize the player character options as Iseph the iconic operative, Quig the iconic mechanic, and Navasi the iconic envoy. What’s more, Raia the iconic technomancer can serve as a best friend and sidekick in these adventures. Simply put, there’s a lot to recognise and love if you’re already a fan of Starfinder. If you’re new to the game or even to tabletop RPGs in general, this experience is a fantastic gateway to a lifetime of adventure and excitement.

To play, all you have to do is say, ‘Alexa, play Starfinder’ on any Alexa-enabled device. Doing so will take you to the pilot episode, Scoundrels in the Spike. If you don’t already have an Alexa-enabled device, Alexa can be downloaded and installed for FREE on a variety of devices like phones, tablets or computers. Just make sure you have a strong data connection (Wi-Fi is probably best).

The next episode of Starfinder will appear on Alexa in early 2020, featuring hours of voice gameplay adapted from Dead Suns: Incident at Absalom Station – the first volume of the Dead Suns Adventure Path – with rules adapted from the Starfinder Core Rulebook.
