Telling Lies is the new live-action video game from Sam Barlow, creator of Her Story and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. An investigative experience with non-linear storytelling, Telling Lies revolves around a cache of secretly recorded video conversations of four characters targeted by surveillance.
A complex and absorbing crime fiction thriller, Telling Lies sits you in front of an anonymous laptop loaded with a stolen National Security Agency database full of footage. This fragmented footage covers two years in the intimate lives of four people whose stories are linked by a shocking incident. Explore the database by typing search terms, watch the clips where those words are spoken, and then follow your own path to piece together the story within.
Unlike anything you’ve played before, Telling Lies is an intimate and intense experience about private conversations – a narrative mystery where you decide the truth. As you analyse the recordings, unravel the keyword connections and determine the context and timeline of these private events, you’ll uncover the deeper mystery while gaining an understanding of your own role in the unfolding drama.
Choices made during the game will influence the conclusion of your investigation, with some questions left hanging for future playthroughs. There’s more than 10 hours of footage in the game, offering different experiences for every player based on the possible clues you notice and choose to follow, and your personal preference for specific characters and their stories.
Developed by Barlow in partnership with Furious Bee, and published byAnnapurna Interactive, Telling Lies features a talented cast, including: Logan Marshall-Green (The Invitation, Upgrade); Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix); Kerry Bishé (The Romanoffs, Argo); and Angela Sarafyan (Westworld, The Immigrant).
