The 35th anniversary of the Fighting Fantasy series will be celebrated this year with the release of two new books: an Allansian adventure written by Ian Livingstone, and a companion volume to Jonathan Green’s You Are The Hero – A History of Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks, which was released in 2014 after a very successful Kickstarter.
You Are The Hero Part 2 has now been launched as another Kickstarter campaign, with numerous pledge levels available, including: the eBook and softback editions; gamebooks signed by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone; copies of a second hardback printing of the original You Are The Hero; plus an exclusive opportunity to enjoy a relaxed lunch with Steve Jackson, Ian Livingstone and Jonathan Green, on the day after Fighting Fantasy Fest 2.
You Are The Hero Part 2 will feature new interviews with Fighting Fantasy authors not already featured in the original book, as well as new art and artist interviews from more of the talented creators who helped to visually imagine the series. The book will also include details about FF’s broadcasting history, the publication of the first Fighting Fantasy comic, Ian Livingstone’s Freeway Fighter, and the forthcoming graphic novel, Steve Jackson’s The Trolltooth Wars.
Legendary fantasy artist Chris Achilleos – who painted the covers of Titan ~ The Fighting Fantasy World (shown above), Out of the Pit, Temple of Terror, and more, will produce a new cover painting for You Are The Hero Part 2 – if enough funds are raised during the campaign. There’s also a possibility that the book will be upgraded to a hardcover edition (as per the original Kickstarter) if the financial support provided allows for this physical improvement.
You Are The Hero Part 2 should be a fascinating and worthwhile companion volume to the original book, telling new tales of great interest to all Fighting Fantasy fans, and exploring even deeper into the past, present and future of the series. The Kickstarter campaign will conclude on the 1st of April.
Thanks for the shout-out! I you would like me to give you an exclusive interview about the book please drop me a line. 🙂
